Q. What's the difference between " X-431" and " X-431 Infinite"
A. There are basically 3 differences: (1) X-431 uses a gray-scale LCD touch screen, while X-431 Infinite use a color LCD touch screen; (2) There is a built-in battery inside the X-431 Infinite, while there is no battery in regular X-431; (3) X-431 is composed of 3 parts: Printer, Main Unit, and Smartbox; X-431 Infinite is composed of 2 parts (Main part and Smartbox), the 2 parts communicate with each other with Bluetooth technology.

X-431 and  X-431  Infinite use same car-line software.

Q. How will I get the updated car-line software
A. Launch will publish all new versions on its website (www.x431.com), you log in with your username and password and download everything to your hard driver, then transfer them from hard driver to a memory card. The memory card (Compact Flash card) may be read with a PC or with X-431 scan tool.

Q. What's the difference between " X-431 Infinite" and " X-431 Tool
A. There are basically 1 difference: (1) X-431 Infinite comes with a big, tough tool box, while X-431 Tool comes with a cabinet containing four smaller tool boxes (or something looks like boxes).

Q. Do you sell X-431 scan tool as a combo, or you sell software and hardware separately
A. When you buy a X-431, you get the main unit, all connectors you are going to use in the U. S. (excluding future new connectors not yet available), and all 36 car-line software. You also get one year software subscription – that means you may update your software thru Internet in one whole year, as many times as you wish, and according to your own schedule! Though, there are a few options: PCLink, a software allows you to use X-431 thru a PC; Sensorbox; and Mercedes-14 connector.

Launch offers one year long hardware warranty, including parts and labor. The 2nd year's software subscription costs $800 currently (may change without further notice). If you do not buy the 2nd year's software subscription, you will still be able to use the scanner with older version car-line software.

X-431's 36 car-line software package includes: Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Mercedes, Audi/VW, Volvo, Landrover / Rangerover, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda, Suzuki, Daewoo, Hyundai, Kia, OBDII, and CAN OBD.
